Are you searching for a way to leverage your scientific skills to make a real difference?

Join us in our mission to turn bold ideas into game-changing realities by participating in Science for America’s Fellows program.

Science for America (SfA) Fellows are graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early-career scientists who are passionate about working as part of a diverse team to solve the planet’s toughest challenges. We are looking for rising stars in their field of study to join us in solving the biggest problems we are faced with today. At Science for America, we seek Fellows who are not just thinkers, but doers.

SfA Fellows work to: (1) define critical problems and game-changing goals in their field; (2) define specific technical and techno-economic targets to meet these goals; and (3) help to incubate and launch solutions to achieve these goals.

SfA Fellows engage in a variety of activities, including but not limited to:

  • Undertake scientific, technological, and techno-economic analyses of relevant problem areas and technologies
  • Research and write backgrounders, plans, and external pieces
  • Build relationships and alliances with other groups
  • Identify new game-changing solutions and associated scientific, technological, and techno-economic targets

As part of their role, SfA Fellows have the opportunity to engage in specific projects aligned with SfA’s pillars, both individually and as part of a larger team. Fellows may also propose projects aligned with SfA’s focus areas, and work with internal scientists to refine their ideas.

SfA Fellows engage with each other, internal scientists, Strategic Advisors, and innovators in their field to define and explore technical white spaces. SfA Fellows are encouraged to think big and to explore new technical areas, sometimes outside their expertise.

In participating in the Fellows program, SfA Fellows:

  • Commit ~10% of their time to SfA for 12 months (which may be remote).
  • Receive mentorship from the SfA internal team and external Strategic Advisors and a monthly stipend.
  • Connect with SfA Fellows working across all of SfA’s participating Pillars.

We’re looking for Fellows who:

  • Exhibit passion, creativity, and a bias toward action in their field, and have strong technical abilities
  • Are willing to explore new topics outside of their expertise, adopting SfA’s approach toward defining critical problems and identifying game-changing solutions
  • Are eligible to work in the United States for the next 12 months

If you are interested in learning more about the Fellows program, please complete our inquiry form.
